Spreadsheets you can edit
Change cells, sort and filter, undo, and save. What happens to formulas and colours when you save an Excel file.
Edit
Select a cell and type. Press Enter to keep the change, Esc to cancel. Right-click a column heading to rename, add, remove or sort the column. Right-click a row number to add, remove or clear the row.
Sort and filter
Select the small arrow on a column heading. You can sort A to Z or Z to A, tick the values you want to see, or set a rule such as "greater than 10,000".
Find
Press ⌘F (Ctrl+F on Windows) to search inside the sheet.
Undo and save
⌘Z undoes your last change. ⇧⌘Z redoes it. A dot on the file tab means there are unsaved changes. Press ⌘S to save. On Windows use Ctrl.
What saving an Excel file keeps
Dataweaver saves the values. It does not keep formulas, colours, number formats, charts, pictures or comments from the original Excel file. A formula becomes the number it last showed.
Two safety rules
- If another program changed the file after you opened it, Dataweaver refuses to save over it. Save under a new name instead.
- Dataweaver never saves an empty file over one that has data in it.
