A file will not open

Check the file ending, close the file in Excel, and check the size limits for text and XML files.

  • Is it a kind of file Dataweaver opens? See the list in Open a file. PowerPoint files do not open yet.
  • Is it open in Excel right now? Close it there and try again.
  • Is it a text, log or XML file over 50 MB? It opens, but whole-file scans are not available at that size.
  • Is it a broken CSV or XML? Dataweaver shows the exact line where the file breaks, and offers a repair for XML.
  • Is it a spreadsheet with a password? Remove the password in Excel, then open it here. A Word file with a password asks for it when you open it.
A file that will not open cannot damage anything. Dataweaver never writes to a file while opening it.
