Logs and web APIs
Open log files with errors coloured, connect Google Cloud logs, or pull data from a web API. For the more technical people in the office.
This page is for the more technical people in your office. If you never deal with log files or web services, you can skip it.
Log files
A .log or .txt file with one event per line opens in the log view. Errors are red, warnings are amber. Press ⌘F to search. Ask Weaver "what went wrong around 2 pm on Tuesday" and it follows the trail through the file.
Before any log text is used by Weaver, emails, phone numbers, card numbers, keys and government ID numbers in it are replaced on your computer.
Google Cloud logs
Under Data sources, press Connect a source and choose Google Cloud. Sign in with the Google account that has access. Pick the project. The logs appear as a source you can search and ask about.
Web APIs
A web API is a service that hands out data over the internet when asked the right way. To connect one, press Connect a source, choose Web API, and paste the address and the key the service gave you. Dataweaver fetches the data and shows it as a table. Weaver can then work on it like any other file.
